gosh, and there i was
all worried to be
showing my 3-year-old
"adult situations"
in that first batch of movies
i ever bought for her.
beloved nannies flying away,
cackling wicked witches,
bad guy threatening to kill little redhead. . .
at none of these did she flinch.

but that innocent little show
about the boy and his red balloon?

worry & tears

turned to flat out hysterics.
why was he letting go of his balloon???

no words to console.
the movie had to be cut short,
for fear of forever traumatizing
my 3-year-old.
by the little boy who just wouldn't
grab that dang balloon.

Poor Milla! She must have a lot of empathy. She relates more to the little boy with the balloon than to wicked witches and the lot...

(kind of funny, though - in a step-back-parenting-kind of a way)

definitely funny from an adult perspective. i love how much she cared!!! so cute!

Oh my goodness... poor thing. Did her screams traumatize Avi? Yes, the level of understanding was probably a bit more relevant with the balloon.... and you just sat and watched... capturing it all on film (sort of).

classic! i think it's so hard to watch your kid's heart break, though. (mine was sobbing, sobbing when daddy warbucks was so sadly singing good-bye to annie as she drove away with the fake parents.) you're so lucky to have gotten those images!

That is so classic. I'm glad that you got the pictures... wonder when she'll stop being traumatized.

How sweet. I love the tear dripping from her chin.

Wow, that last picture is INTENSE! I think I'm traumatized by looking at her poor, sad, little face!

So funny, Jen! We laughed until we cried! Really!

Much love,
Rachel (and family)

I want to send her a red balloon that will NEVER get away. That is so tender.
There is a comedian that does a bit on why kids freak out so bad when balloons fly away - it's pretty funny.

Poor Milla! I can't help but laugh a little though. Not at her pain, just because it's so sweet that she's so concerned.

How in the world did you get that picture? You're supposed to be holding and consoling the dear child at a moment like that. Poor thing. I never did like that movie, anyway.

that is so sweet! and you captured it all on film! are you sure she was in hysterics over the balloon or was it the big lense in her face??? jk!
