purim

and today,
we celebrate
purim.

we celebrate
the deliverance of the jewish people
during the ancient persian empire
from haman's plot
to have them annihilated;
and esther's heroic role
in their extrication.

we dress in costumes,
sing merry songs,
dance festive dances,
watch comical skits,
and then
eat traditional pastries,
oznei haman
(haman's ears)

shalom!

How were Haman's ears?! Yummy, I hope. Is this a traditional Russian holday? Very interesting!

o jen i love it! dan and i celebrated purim at the Park City Synogogue - we were asked to be the judges (unbiased strangers in the congregation) of the costume contest! we got engaged later that night (after midnight - so not technically on the same night of purim which is supposedly not a night one should get engaged on...or some i'm told by my jewish friends)
