new life

the Bible doesn't record
what Jesus did on wednesday
of His final week.

and so our celebration today
was the traditional
easter egg painting.

as we painted
and decorated our faberge's
we talked about where eggs come from.

and how they are
a symbol of new life.

and how Christ gives us new life.

the easter bunny
didn't even enter the conversation.
and at the end of it all,
milla exclaims,
this is better than christmas!

Are you sure you want to eat those beautiful eggs? What masterpieces! I suppose that is what photos are for... awesome!

So are you going to leave the Easter bunny out of your house completely? Or will you do an egg hunt with those beautiful eggs? I'm curious!

We have not brought up the topic of the Easter Bunny either. We plan to do an egg hunt though... hadn't thought about having to explain who does what.

I LOVE what you are doing to make Easter a special celebration for your children.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how Easter should be "even better than Christmas." In fact, I wrote a new poem yesterday telling the Easter story (posted on my blog today) because I found myself wondering why I have so many Christmas poems and too few Easter ones.

If I had it to do over again, I would make much more of Easter, just as you are doing. Your children's lives will be the richer for it. And their testimonies.

Those are the most beautiful eggs I've ever seen, really. And I'm so impressed by what you're doing to ready the little ones for Easter. You are impressive.
